ShrinkLink HUMAN HAIR EXTENSIONS

The shrink link attachment method requires very little maintenance. One week after the first application, we recommend that the client come back to the salon for a routine inspection. At this time the shrinkLINK can be examined to make sure that they were properly sealed. If any of the extension ShrinkTips have released, it will be very easy to reattach them during the inspection. We suggest that all routine hair services be performed by the extension stylist. The shrinkLINK are impervious to any chemical. Color touch-ups can be done while wearing the shrinkLINK. Any heat straightening services should be done in between application procedures.

We recommend scheduling your extension removal and reapplication appointment in advance, that way there will be no confusion as to how long you should be wearing the extensions. A period of 10-12 weeks is a safe and comfortable length of time for the shrinkLINK method. Leaving ANY type of hair extension in your hair for longer will most likely cause damage to your natural hair.

BRUSHING, SHAMPOOING AND CONDITIONING


  • Before shampooing gently brush extension hair with a SOFT bristle brush.
  • Begin brushing the ends of the hair extensions in downward strokes, moving up the hair until finally placing the brush at the root area and brushing throughly and firmly from the root trough to the ends.
  • Before shampooing separate the attachments, one from the other at the root area. The extension hair at the root area can entwine between the bonds and lock together.
  • Shampoo at least twice a week. This is to ensure that natural oils do not build up at the scalp area. If oily build up occurs it can cause extensions to slip out.
  • Use the cleansing and conditioning products recommended by your extension stylist. If you have a naturally oily scalp use a clarifying shampoo.
  • Standing in a shower is an ideal position for shampooing an extension hairstyle as the water and the hair flow in a vertical downward direction. Never tip head under a faucet.
  • Wet the natural hair and extension hair together. Apply the shampoo throughout the hairstyle. Using fingertips massage the shampoo gently at the scalp area and stroke the shampoo into the extension hair to the tips. DO NOT rub hair vigorously. it is very important that you rinse the hair thoroughly using clean running water and gently squeeze the extension hairstyle to remove excess water.
  • Apply apply conditioner , if applicable, through the mid-lengths and ends of the extension hairstyle. Avoid applying conditioner to the root area or on the shrinkLINK attachments.
  • Stroke the conditioner into the extensions in downward movements. Leave the conditioner on the hair for the required time then rinse the hair throughly using clean running water. Gently squeeze the extension hair to remove excess water.
  • After shampooing and conditioning the extension hair, wrap a towel around the hair and pat gently to remove excess water.

BLOW DRYING


  • Dry the extension hair at the roots on a low heat setting. Do not allow shrinkLINK attachments to get too hot, slippage can occur. If a shrinklink gets hot, do not pull on extension hair, let it to cool before you resume styling.
  • You can use a brush to blow out your extensions if you prefer. But make sure you do not hold the dryer on the shrinLINK attachment. Start below the attachment and blow out as usual.
  • Once the root and extensions are dry brush the extensions gently from the ends towards the root area in a downward direction.
  • Always hold extension at the root area when brushing to avoid unnecessary tension at the roots.

STYLING


  • You can use styling products (gels, foams & texture creams) on your extensions.
  • Be sure that none of your hair products contains silicones, oils or waxes as these can interfere with the adhesion of the shrinkLINK.
  • While using a flat iron or curling iron be sure not to touch the shrinkLINK attachment with the hot styling tool.
  • Do not apply unnecessary tension to the bonded extension areas by tying ponytails too tight.
  • Do not backcomb or tease real extension hair as the cuticle layers will interlock and tangling will occur.

BEDTIME


  • Hair extensions must be completely dry dry and placed in a loose braid secured with a covered band on the ends before going to bad at night.
  • NEVER GO TO BED WITH WET HAIR

MISCELLANEOUS


  • If any tangles occur, contact your extension stylist immediately. It is best not to go to other salons for detangling or shampooing, generally they do not know how to work with extensions.
  • Always braid hair for high wind activities such as motorcycling, convertible rides, boating, etc.
  • Remember to braid hair before swimming and shampoo and condition after. Chlorine is damaging to all hair, and can turn blondes green. Wetting hair and applying conditioner prior to exposure helps alleviate the problem.
  • Do not perm or color your extensions after application, because the extension hair has already gone through several chemical processes and any further chemical treatments will result in unpredictable color or perming results, and ruin the integrity of the extension hair.
  • Always remove hair extensions after three months' wear and return to your extension stylist for this service.
  • Hair extensions are not an exact science. Each bundle of hair is unique, and may react differently than your last bundle. Due to this Julie Jetsons can not guarantee the quality of the hair.
  • If you have problems or questions, please contact Julie Jetsons and we will get back to you as soon as possible. There are no refunds on hair services. We will do all we can to help with any problems that occur within the first two weeks.
  • Remember, you have just made a drastic change in your appearance and beauty routine. Give yourself some time to adjust and to learn how to work with your new hairstyle.

Synthetic Hair Extensions

  • Wash your hair a maximum of 1-2 times a week with a good salon shampoo (not too conditioning).
  • Condition with Kerasilk conditioner. Do not apply conditioner to braids, this could cause slippage. Spray daily with Kerasilk and water mixture in a spray bottle.
  • Wear a loose braid when sleeping, swimming or any high wind activity (ie. motorcycling, etc.)
  • Hold hair gently at scalp when burshing or combing.
  • Use a low setting on your blow dryer. Spray with a Kerasilk/water mixture. Use paddle brush and blowdryer to smooth out hair.
  • A steam and brush out with our machine is $35 and 6 takes about 30 minutes.
  • A hot setting on your blow dryer and curling irons will singe your hair. You can use hot rollers with a coating. (Lock rolls by Clairol or Caruso Steam curlers.)
  • You may lose 1-3 extensions. This is normal, don't panic.
  • Any problems or questions contact us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
